Government of Canada Invests $4 Million in ANVO Laboratories,Propelling Growth in the Pharmaceutical Industry

London, Ontario – In an exciting development for the pharmaceutical industry, the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), joined by Peter Fragiskatos, Member of Parliament for London North Centre, announced an investment of $4 million for ANVO Laboratories Inc. (ANVO Labs) to accelerate production and enhance biomanufacturing capabilities.

ANVO Laboratories Inc., founded in 2020, is a wholly-owned division of ANVO Pharma Group Inc., marking first Vietnamese pharmaceutical company launched in Canada. ANVO Pharma Group, a science and research-oriented pharmaceutical group located in London, specializes in the development, manufacturing, marketing, and distribution of high-quality generic specialty pharmaceutical products globally.
ANVO Labs is making significant strides in the health sciences and this investment will propel their growth and solidify their position as a key player in the industry.

The investment will support ANVO Labs as it equips and staffs its new 62,000-square-foot research, development, and production facility located in the Advanced Manufacturing Park in London. The state-of-the-art facility will enable ANVO Labs to manufacture tablets and capsules and will serve as the company’s global headquarters. This investment will position Canada as a leader in drug development and production, fostering connections with the local health sciences ecosystem, colleges, and universities.

Minister Filomena Tassi highlighted the importance of strategic investments in critical biomanufacturing to strengthen Canada’s healthcare system and ensure accessible care for all. She stated, “ANVO Laboratories is making incredible strides in the health sciences, and the Government of Canada is supporting them so they can continue to grow. Our government is helping people reach their potential and turn possibilities into realities.”

MP Peter Fragiskatos emphasized that this investment is part of the government’s commitment to building a future that benefits workers, businesses, and the entire country. He said, “This investment is another step that our Government is taking to build the future of Canada—one that is good for workers, good for business, good for everyone.”

During the announcement, ANVO Laboratories’ founders, Tam Vo and Dianna Nguyen, expressed their gratitude for the support received and their commitment to spreading global healing power. In a shared message, they stated, “We are proud to call London home and are so thankful for the support of FedDev Ontario in providing us this opportunity to grow. Together we embark upon a journey in spreading global healing power with the world,”

With this investment, ANVO Labs will be able to accelerate production and expand its specialized packaging capabilities for Canadian drug manufacturers. The project will support made-in-Canada pharmaceutical production and strengthen the country’s biomanufacturing supply chain. Moreover, the investment will create 45 skilled jobs in London, contributing to the region’s thriving Life Sciences sector.

The Government of Canada, through FedDev Ontario, has invested over $60 million in 85 projects in the London region since 2015. These investments are estimated to create over 900 jobs and maintain over 1,000 jobs, showcasing the government’s commitment to fostering economic growth and innovation.

As ANVO Laboratories continues its journey as the first Vietnamese pharmaceutical company launched in Ontario, the support from the Government of Canada and the collaborative efforts of stakeholders, including founders Tam Vo and Dianna Nguyen, will enable the company to unlock new possibilities in the healthcare sector. This commitment to growth and innovation will benefit Canadians and strengthen the nation’s healthcare system.
