Costco Canada is alerting customers to an “important recall notice” related to a salad kit that could cause illness.
On Tuesday, February 6, the retailer shared recall information about the Taylor Farms Mexican Style Street Corn Chopped Salad Kit (Costco Item #1785678), sold from January 12, 2024, to February 6, 2024.
According to the recall notice posted by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, these salad kits were sold across Canada under two brands, Taylor Fresh and President’s Choice.

Rizo Lopez Foods, the affected product’s manufacturer, is voluntarily recalling the product due to the potential presence of Listeria monocytogenes bacteria in Cotija Cheese.
According to the FDA investigation into some of Rizo Lopez Foods’ dairy products in the United States, 26 cases of illness due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination have been reported, with 23 hospitalizations and 2 deaths related to the consumption of the company’s products.
The recalled products include cheese, yogurt, and sour cream sold under the brands Tio Francisco, Don Francisco, Rizo Bros, Rio Grande, Food City, El Huache, La Ordena, San Carlos, Campesino, Santa Maria, Dos Ranchitos, Casa Cardenas, and 365 Whole Foods Market. The company has temporarily halted the production and distribution of these products while the investigation is ongoing.
Contaminated food may not appear or smell spoiled but can still cause illness, with symptoms ranging from vomiting to nausea, persistent fever, severe headaches, and stiff neck.
Customers in Canada are advised not to consume this salad and, instead, dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase. Customers can return the product to Costco’s warehouse for a full refund.
