Summer is just around the corner, and as people start planning their travel, Forbes has published a list of “23 best places to travel around the world in 2023,” with two Canadian cities making the cut.
This year’s list was released in March by women travel experts and influencers, to mark Women’s History Month. Edmonton, Alberta and Victoria, BC were the only Canadian cities that made the Forbes list.
Edmonton
According to the travel experts, Edmonton is a bustling city in the heart of the wilderness, with 18 hours of daylight during the summer and an ice castle during the winter. Forbes highlighted Edmonton’s craft beer scene, including the unofficial brewery district, nicknamed Happy Beer Street, and suggested visiting Elk Island National Park.
Victoria
For Victoria, the experts described it as a “charming” destination that offers the unexpected joy of impressive natural landscapes in a walkable area. Visitors can enjoy whale watching with ocean-friendly tour groups and First Nations-led tours.
Seattle-based writer Corinne Whiting added that “Canadians are some of the nicest folks around, too,” making these Canadian cities even more appealing to visit.
