Yangzhou Fried Rice

Yangzhou fried rice often referred to as Chinese Fried Rice, is a popular Chinese-style wok-fried rice dish that can be found in many Chinese restaurants throughout the world.

The main difference between Yangzhou fried rice and other styles of fried rice is that it includes a combination of various proteins in one tasty dish.

Commonly used proteins in a Yangzhou fried rice is a combination of pork, shrimp, and frequently either chicken or duck.

The rest of the ingredients can vary as well but the main signature ingredients that make this dish so good are the fresh vegetables and sometimes traditional ingredients such as sea cucumber and crab meat.

Fun fact: Did you know in October 2015, as part of the 2500th anniversary of the town of Yangzhou, an attempt was made at beating the previous world record for fried rice set in 2014. The attempt, made by the World Association of the Chinese Cuisine resulted in 4,192 kilograms or 9,242 lbs of Yangzhou fried rice!
