Major Summer Events Returning to Toronto You Need to Check Out!

With the reopening of the province, Toronto’s Mayor John Tory announced the return of major summer events!

With the restoration of the city’s cherished festivals and events, Toronto will be returning to its pre-pandemic personality after more than 2 years of cancellations.

The city is ready to welcome back in-person events and festivals, and to reinvigorate the cultural vibrancy of the city, thanks to the gains Team Toronto has achieved on the vaccination front and other important health metrics.

Here are some of the main events and festivals that are returning:

Pride Parade:

In 2022, Pride Month and Festival Weekend will return to Toronto, with the entire month of Pride programming beginning on June 1st and ending with the annual Pride Festival Weekend on June 24–26. pridetoronto.com

Luminato Festival:

With free outdoor performances and personal encounters that cut through traditional art-form borders, the city’s international arts festival dedicated to performance, media, and visual arts returns June 9-19. luminatofestival.com

The Luminato Festival was launched in 2007 to help the city recover from the SARS outbreak. After surviving another pandemic, the festival is back with additional performances by local and international performers.

Taste of Lawrence:

The largest street celebration in Scarborough will take place from July 8-10. The Wexford Heights BIA hosts this three-day culinary and culture event. WexfordBIA.ca.

Canadian National Exhibition (CNE):

From August 19 to September 5, the CNE will be returning for 18 days of fresh and innovative activities, rides, concerts, and exhibitions for the entire family. TheEx.com.

Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF):

The 47th edition of TIFF runs September 8-18, featuring international and Canadian film, special events with some of the industry’s biggest names, and TIFF’s Industry Conference, which provides diverse and innovative perspectives on the art and business of film. TIFF.net
