The eighth story of the famous Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, written by J.K Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, comes to the theatre as a new play by Thorne. Autumn of 2020, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will come to Ed Mirvish Theatre, Toronto.
The play outlines the life of Harry Potter after the Hogwarts war against Dark Lord Voldemort. Harry is now a member of the Ministry of Magic, and a husband and father, but it seems his life is not much more comfortable. While Harry is still remembering everything from the past, his son, Albus, is struggling with the weight of family legacy. Through this journey, with the fuse between present and past, Harry and his son realize that sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
Harry Potter and the Cursed opened in London in July 2016, and it received 24 theatre awards in the United Kingdom. It premiered in Broadway in April 2018 and received 25 awards, including six Tony Awards.
