A Small Corner to Enjoy Tea in Saigon

Thương Library – a rendezvous for people in love with the art of tea and reading.

Verdant in the heart of Saigon

In the heart of Saigon, Thương Library appears as a tranquil venue for those who are strongly passionate about the art of tea and things that belong to cultural beauty.

The small entrance to Thương Library is covered with refreshing greenery and dangling plants. In every early morning, the sunlight glimmers through the crevices as if to greet visitors a good day. At the end of that poetic pathway is an area brimming with culture with well-known names displayed all over the wall, as a way to honour their contributions to the world.

Facing said artists is a shelf filled with books. Coming to Thương Library, you don’t need to bring any book with you, because surely the variety of genres in the hundreds of books here can cover your passion.

A notable feature here compared to other coffee shops is that Thương Library doesn’t use air conditioners, as a way for the shop to contribute in small ways to environmental protection. During a chance to meet with the owner, she smiled and shared: “The more trees I plant, the cooler this place gets. I want Thương Library to be even shadowed by greenery, I also grow some vegetables in the back, if you’re free come and get some for dinner. No need to buy them outside, they’re clean!”

Enjoy tea at Thương Library

Thương Library is already poetic from its name. Perhaps that’s why the art of tea drinking here is nonetheless artfully arranged by its owner. Each porcelain cup and teapot were all personally picked and purchased by her.

To her, proper tea-drinking means having it warm and enjoying it right after brewing. Cooled tea usually no longer retains the original taste, therefore cups and pots here all have a certain “thickness” to them. Drinking tea should be accompanied by eating pastries, to create a relaxing afternoon in between the restlessness of daily life. That is also why Thương Library was born, as a stopover to “breathe a little” after all the craziness for restless souls.

Not simply just a humble coffee shop in the middle of Saigon, Thương Library also provides a perfect environment for people looking for a quiet place to sit and concentrate on work, and even seminars or cozy gatherings. The price at Thương Library is reasonable, ranging from 50.000VND to 200.000VND (equivalent to 2.89CAD – 11.57CAD).
